Those who are unfortunate enough to be in my writing groups — and therefore be subjected to the onslaught of the current obsession, whatever it might be — know that the current book is based on the case studies from Krafft-Ebing’s Psychopathia Sexualis. While Krafft-Ebing and his colleagues were certainly on the right track, it’s frustrating to realise how slow that track was to get here. Just here. Not the end of the track, just a little distance from that end.
We still have a long way to go. We can’t see the end yet.
Today, in my head, 19th century Germany collided with 21st century Israel. It was not a bad crash.
